We use AI systems to help process the vast volume of medical literature published daily, and we tell you which articles an editor has read. Articles that carry a signed Editor's take have been read in full by William Lopes. The others are drafted with AI and pass automated style checks, but they are not individually read by an editor. Every article page says which kind it is.

We use AI tools for specific, limited tasks to improve efficiency:

• Summarisation: We use LLMs to generate initial drafts of “Key Takeaways” or “Smart Briefs” from full-text studies. Where an article carries an Editor's take, the Editor has checked the draft against the primary source. Other drafts are not individually checked, so please read the cited source before relying on a figure.
• Data extraction: We use algorithms to extract p-values, sample sizes, and hazard ratios from structured tables to ensure precision.
• Translation & formatting: We may use AI to assist in standardising the format of citations or translating complex technical jargon into accessible clinical language.

Articles on The Life Science Feed carry a consistent writer credit, and each of those writers covers a defined beat. Those credits represent editorial personas of this publication, not individual human journalists. They exist so that readers can follow a subject area and recognise a consistent standard and voice within it, in the way a masthead column or a house pseudonym has long worked in publishing.

Every article is drafted with AI assistance under that persona. Articles that carry a signed Editor's take have also been read in full by a named human editor, William Lopes. Some articles list an AI editorial persona in the editor field; that credit is a persona, not a human reader. Editorial responsibility for everything published here rests with William Lopes, Co-Founder & Editor, a real person who can be contacted directly and who answers for any error we make.

Where an article is written by a named individual in a personal capacity, the byline is that person and this section does not apply.

• No claim of perfect accuracy: We instruct the AI not to invent facts, and automated checks look for common problems, but AI-drafted text and reference lists can still contain errors, and not every article is read by an editor. If you find one, tell us and we will correct it.
• No synthetic medical advice: Our content is for informational purposes for healthcare professionals. AI is never used to generate direct treatment recommendations that are not explicitly present in the source material.
• No image fabrication: We clearly label any illustrative images that are generated or enhanced by AI. We do not use AI to alter clinical data images (e.g., histology slides, X-rays) in a way that misrepresents the scientific findings.
