Editorial Policy
Last updated: April 2026
This policy describes how we select, produce, review, and maintain the content published on The Life Science Feed.
1. Our mission
The Life Science Feed exists to make peer-reviewed medical research accessible to healthcare professionals and informed readers. We summarise published science — we do not conduct research, offer clinical advice, or represent any pharmaceutical or healthcare organisation.
2. Source selection
All original articles are based on peer-reviewed studies published under open-access licences (CC-BY or CC0). Primary sources include:
- PubMed Central (NCBI) — open-access full text
- PLoS ONE, PLoS Medicine, and other PLoS journals
- eLife Sciences
- BioMed Central journals
- Nature Communications (open-access articles)
- medRxiv and bioRxiv preprints (clearly labelled as such)
- Official releases from the FDA, WHO, NIH, and EMA
We also republish selected articles from The Conversation — an academic news network where university researchers write directly for the public. These articles carry the original author's name and institutional affiliation and are reproduced under their CC-BY-ND licence with full attribution.
We do not publish content based on press releases alone, conference abstracts without peer review, or studies with significant undisclosed conflicts of interest.
3. AI-assisted drafting
We use AI language tools to assist with drafting article summaries. The AI is given the full text or abstract of the source study and instructed to:
- Summarise only what the study reports — no extrapolation
- Avoid sensational language ("groundbreaking", "cure", "revolutionary")
- Include a structured Clinical Key Takeaways section
- Produce an APA-format citation of the source
Every AI-drafted article is reviewed by the Editor before publication. The Editor checks the summary against the source study, corrects any inaccuracies, and approves or rejects the draft. AI assistance is a production tool, not a replacement for editorial judgement.
All articles carry an editorial transparency notice disclosing AI involvement. See our AI Disclaimer for further detail.
4. Editorial review
The Life Science Feed is edited and published by William Lopes (Founder & Editor), who holds a degree in Social Communication. William reviews every article against its source study before publication, with particular attention to:
- Accuracy of reported statistics, findings, and conclusions
- Appropriate qualification of preliminary or limited findings
- Absence of clinical recommendations beyond what the study states
- Correct attribution and citation of the source
5. Medical disclaimer
Content on The Life Science Feed is intended for informational purposes only. It summarises published research and is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Readers should not act on information from this site without consulting a qualified healthcare professional.
6. Corrections policy
We are committed to accuracy. If an error is identified after publication:
- Minor corrections (typographical, formatting) are made silently
- Factual corrections are made with a visible correction notice at the top of the article, stating what was changed and when
- Articles based on retracted studies are updated or unpublished, with a retraction notice where appropriate
To report an error, email info@thelifesciencefeed.com. We aim to respond within 3 business days.
7. Advertising independence
Display advertising on this site is served by Google AdSense. Advertisers have no influence over article selection, content, or editorial conclusions. Sponsored or branded content, if ever published, will be clearly labelled as such and kept editorially separate from independent editorial content.
