carcinoma basal cell

Basal cell carcinoma is the most common human malignancy, predominantly arising from ultraviolet-induced DNA damage in sun-exposed skin. The vast majority are treated with surgical excision or Mohs micrographic surgery; advanced or metastatic disease is now addressable with Hedgehog pathway inhibitors. Early detection and primary prevention strategies are central to reducing the disease burden.
