Osteoporosis affects an estimated 500 million people globally, predisposing to fragility fractures that carry high morbidity and mortality, particularly hip fractures in older adults. Anti-resorptive therapy with bisphosphonates and denosumab, and anabolic agents romosozumab and teriparatide, form the pharmacological armamentarium. Sequential therapy strategies and fracture liaison service implementation are the focus of contemporary guideline development.
