tendinopathy

Tendinopathy refers to a spectrum of tendon conditions, typically presenting as localised pain, swelling, and impaired function, driven by failed tendon healing response rather than classical inflammation. Loading exercise programmes, particularly heavy slow resistance training, are the most evidence-based treatment; extracorporeal shockwave therapy and PRP injections are adjunct options. Understanding the role of systemic metabolic factors including hyperlipidaemia and diabetes in tendon pathology is an emerging research focus.
