Endometriosis is a chronic oestrogen-dependent inflammatory disease affecting approximately 10% of reproductive-age women, characterised by implantation of endometrial-like tissue outside the uterus. Diagnostic delay remains a significant problem, averaging 6–8 years from symptom onset. Hormonal suppression, surgical excision, and emerging non-hormonal therapies targeting inflammation and neuroangiogenesis are the focus of ongoing clinical development.
