Preeclampsia affects approximately 5% of pregnancies globally and is a leading cause of maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality. Delivery remains the only curative intervention, with timing balanced against neonatal maturity. Low-dose aspirin prophylaxis in high-risk pregnancies is established; research is focused on angiogenic biomarker-guided prediction, blood pressure management targets, and emerging therapies for prevention in identified risk groups.
