Respiratory syncytial virus is the leading cause of acute lower respiratory tract infection in infants globally and a significant pathogen in older adults and the immunocompromised. Nirsevimab, a long-acting monoclonal antibody, and maternal vaccination with RSVpreF have transformed prevention options for infants. Licensed RSV vaccines for older adults represent the first approved vaccines against this pathogen after decades of failed attempts.
